May. 1st, 2008 12:19 amSo the economic numbers are in. America is not in a recession. The economy is just growing at a slower pace than normal but not slow enough to be considered a recession.
On the plus side, if you want a car loan or house loan, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET IT. The government is forcing loaners to give cuts on interest rates. 25% I think. Plus, having credit card woes? Senate is passing a bill that forces credit card companies to not raise your rates for no reason, raise your minimum payment for no reason, and to apply your payments immediately (some companies hold off for a few days and force you to pay a late fee if you paid at the last minute).
Also, regardless of your party, Independent, Republican, or Democrat, you have noticed something and raged. That thing you noticed? Gas prices. In less than six months, they've jumped outrageously. Well, guess what? When the numbers came in, it reported that gas companies scored a record profit.
WTF? I don't care how much you hate Bush, the Senate, the World or whatever; It's obvious that gas can be reduced in price significantly. The gas companies are obviously playing their games or whatever.
But that bring me to another point. A recent geological survey shows that Western Pennsylvania and the Mid-West combined have more oil in it than Saudi Arabia. This oil is attainable with current technology. Obviously there would be an impact on our ecology but let me ask you this.
Would you drill in those sites? If drilling and pumping oil from there meant self sufficiency in America for oil, would you do it? Does it also help to know that America gets 80% of it's oil from Venezuela? Most people don't really know that.
Just ponder that. No need to really answer. But most of you know that many of my friends (on my f-list) are the controlling generation coming up. Some of us will have to make these critical decisions in the future. Could you do it?
